Credential types

Store a secure note

Use Secure note when the record needs name and multiline body.

Create the record

  1. Open the intended folder and choose + New credential.
  2. Choose Secure note from Credential type.
  3. Enter a recognizable name. Use Name as the note title and enter the private contents in Body. The body supports multiline text. Review the location before storing.
  4. Review the storage location, description and tags. Do not place secrets in those metadata fields.
  5. Select Store credential. An intermediate Use action only accepts that field; it does not save the record.
  6. Open the saved record and check the name, type and available connection summary.

Validation messages stay with the form so you can correct the input. Switching types changes which fields are required. Recheck the selected type and location before submitting.

Retrieve or maintain it

Copy note returns the primary value through the audited lease flow. For a complete structured record, use the TypeScript client or CLI. The name and description are public metadata for authorized browsing. Put confidential instructions in Body, not the description. There is no pinning control in the current console.

Use the record’s Access tab for sharing, Activity for audit and leases, and Manage for rotation or archiving. A replacement requires the full typed record; existing secrets are not prefilled.
